Barry
A. Meyerson
As President of Meyerson Associates Inc., Barry Meyerson is responsible for the overall management
of the firm. He directs the work of the Security, Protection and the Investigative Divisions. Mr.
Meyerson consults with executives, government agencies, producers, major corporations and celebrities about
security issues and risks.
Barry Meyerson provides consultation and analysis
on high profile special events security, risk management and personal safety issues. He has personally designed protective security strategies
and supervised and participated in high level protective operations for more than 20 years in both the public and private
sectors. Mr. Meyerson has managed
protective details for some of the worlds most recognizable individuals and events both domestically and internationally.
Mr.
Meyerson is a licensed, bonded and insured private investigator and holds a permit to carry a concealed firearm. He
has trained in mixed martial arts and a variety of defensive tactics for more than 20 years. Furthermore he
the firm's liason and a Constituent to the Overseas Security Advisory Council (US Department of State, Bureau of
Diplomatic Security) and InfraGard (FBI), receiving non-public information on security threats.
During
his career with the NYCDOP, Barry Meyerson’s skills, drive and ambition promoted him in less than one year on the job to
Field Services Officer/Investigator (FSO) in the elite Field Services Unit (FSU). This was a first
of its kind unit in the nation – “Police Unit of NYCDOP” responsible for the proactive investigation of
crimes of released felons and the investigation and apprehension of violent felony fugitives nationwide. Selection
into the 50 officer unit was by invitation of the Deputy Commissioner and then passing a specialized training academy and
an extensive psychological assessment. During firearms/tactics qualifications, Mr. Meyerson was the only officer
in the Unit to complete three perfect consecutive shooting scores at the firearms range and tactics course.
He was assigned
to both the narcotics/drug unit and the felony warrant division. While with NYCDOP he received specialized
training in Street Gangs, Anti-Terrorism, Threat Assessments/Protection, Narcotics, Police Firearms Instructor Development
and Surveillance. Mr. Meyerson’s law enforcement actions resulted in his participation
in over 300 felony arrests, several on New York’s most wanted list and one felon on America’s most wanted.
He worked in conjunction with the US Marshals Service, NYPD, FBI, DEA and INS on many assignments and was assigned to the
interagency task forces.
Mr. Meyerson served as the department’s Firearms Instructor and Deputy Armorer. He
presented lectures on law, tactics and procedures and certified recruits in the use of firearms at NYPD Firearms Range.
Mr. Meyerson was also responsible for the maintenance, management and inventory of the department’s firearm and
weapons arsenal.
On leave from the NYCDOP to the New York City Police Department, Mr. Meyerson
worked at One Police Plaza directly for the Deputy Police Commissioner of Legal Matters on enforcement and policy decisions
issues relating to NYPD. Mr. Meyerson wrote briefs of law and prepared written lessons for Legal Bureau
attorneys to teach various aspects of criminal law to detectives and recruits at the NYPD Police Academy. Mr. Meyerson finished his career with NYCDOP at the office
of the union as a P.O. and Senior Counsel for the UPOA in the Legal Bureau.
He continued his law
enforcment career when he was appointed Detective/Investigator
for a New York Task Force where held peace officer status and was responsible for criminal investigations regarding specialized cases.
Mr. Meyerson created the Legal Bureau for this agency and became Special Counsel to the Commission, as well as
holding Detective/Investigator status.
After formally leaving the public sector to create Meyerson Associates
Inc., Mr. Meyerson continues to volunteer his time as a reserve Police Officer.
